Edge 91 is officially released for Windows and macOS. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically in the next few days or weeks, but users can also download Edge 91 manually at any time by checking for updates in the settings. Edge 91 contains major performance improvements (including sleep flags, startup acceleration, etc.), and offers richer themes.

List of main new features of Microsoft Edge 91:

● PDF reader mode

If you are looking for a browser with excellent PDF functions, Edge is a very good choice. In Edge 91, Microsoft has transferred many PDF functions to the classic Edge browser, improving reading of PDF files. Presently, Edge has become a good PDF reader, which has surpassed Chrome and other browsers in the eyes of foreign media.

In its latest update, Microsoft is improving the experience for selecting text in a document. After updating, you can expect a “smoother, more consistent” experience when using the pointer and keyboard to select text. This feature will benefit all PDF documents. There is also a new option that allows you to print the current page of the document. To do this, select the “Current page” option under the “Page” section.

For clients and business customers, digital signatures can now be used to validate changes made to documents. Users can use Microsoft Edge to verify the signature of PDF files, which means you no longer need to use third-party services or extensions.

Last but not least, Microsoft is optimizing scrolling performance in order to have a smoother scrolling experience in PDF files. You should no longer see white bars while scrolling.

● Support for speech recognition API

Microsoft provides API support to implement better voice recognition commands on Google.com and similar sites.

● Wikipedia mode

Microsoft is enabling support for immersive readers on Wikipedia to improve its overall experience and catalog so you can easily browse pages. To navigate the page, click on the icon in the toolbar and the Navigation Pane will open. From there, you can see the list of chapters on Wikipedia.

There is also a new feature that automatically hides the number of rows in the table to reduce clutter on Wikipedia. If you want to view the entire table, you need to click on the “Show more” button and the rows will appear in the table.

The company previously stated that these features are designed to help users easily scroll through content.

● New theme colors

Microsoft is offering support for the new default color theme to create a beautiful and immersive visual experience. Users can use its theme for each profile to differentiate between the different profiles for their home, school, or work accounts.

These themes will also apply new background colors to the new tab page, tab bar, address bar, and other parts of the browser except for web pages. If you need moe themes, you can find it on Edge or Chrome store.

● Prevent automatic playback of the video

Edge now automatically blocks videos that are playing automatically. For corporate customers, Microsoft is enabling support for a feature that allows users to view files covered by Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) through their tenants.

● Menu and dictionary thumbnail

The upcoming version of Microsoft Edge will include a new miniature right-click menu for quick access to useful tools when highlighting text. There is also a new function called Define that can be used to find text definitions without leaving the webpage.

● Password dashboard

In its Canary release, Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature that will detect weak passwords and reuse them on various accounts. This feature only works when you synchronize the password with your Microsoft account.
