Customs investigations at Vienna-Schwechat Airport revealed large-scale smuggling of branded goods. More than 20,000 counterfeit products were confiscated, including headphones, mobile phones, fashion items and watches.
During a major inspection at the airport, customs officers examined six shipments from Hong Kong. In the 344 boxes, officers discovered 21,744 suspected counterfeit branded products – from electronic items to fashion accessories. The goods were actually supposed to be sent from Hong Kong to Poland.
The boxes contained more than 8,000 headphones, 48 mobile phones, thousands of accessories, chargers, smart watches, and memory cards. During the search, key rings, bags, sneakers, and packing materials were also found, in addition to 466 watches.
The legal owners of the counterfeit branded products have already been informed, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, and legal action is also being taken.
