Four hundred and seven in series. Welcome to our overview of the best apps, games, and add-ons released for Windows 10 on the Microsoft Store in the past seven days.
Windows 10 can make custom changes to the system after setting up a future out-of-box experience based on user activity preferences. Microsoft has added a new “Personalize Your Device” page to OOBE that requires users to choose activities, such as games, work, or family, that they plan to use the device for.
In other news: Bing is now officially called Microsoft Bing, and Microsoft has released the Ten App Store Principles to “promote choice, fairness and innovation.”
As always, if I missed an app or game released this week and you think it’s particularly good, please let me know in the comments below or let me know via email.
Discounts this week
The following list is a selection of the best deals. Be sure to check out the store for all offers.
Some applications are reduced for more than a week. Only new apps and games are listed below. Check out my previous post in the series to see which past offers may still be valid.
New Windows apps and games
LEGO MINDSTORMS Robot Inventor
Companion app for the new Lego Mindstorms Robot Inventor collection (ID 51515). Includes instructions for building robots and “programming and playing” with over 50 different activities.
The coding interface is based on Scratch, and advanced users can use Python directly.
Youtube (official)
Google lists Microsoft’s Xbox console as the compatible system for the Official YouTube App. System requirements on the same page state that it is compatible with Windows 10 as well, but currently cannot be installed from the store page.
Users who want to try it need to open the Adguard store page, switch the first menu on the page to ProductId, paste the ID 9ndp7ktlk7w3 into the second field, and press the Enter key. The application can then be downloaded to the system and installed on it.
The YouTube app lacks a lot of options and convenience, and it might not be the best choice on Windows 10 devices. For one, it can only be used with the keyboard at the time of writing to navigate the menu.
Notable updates
Slack Update for Windows improves accessibility to recently used files, and contains several bug fixes.
