Nominations for 2020 Game of the Year announced. Which of the six candidates deserves to win the title this year?
2020 was a wild year, but despite all the crazy things that happened this year, we still need to know which game will receive the prestigious Game of the Year award. There are six nominations for the award and six very interesting ones, to say the least. Here are the 2020 nominations for the year:
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Final Fantasy VII remake
- The ghost of Tsushima
- Hades
- Eternal torment
- The Last of Us Part 2
As you can tell, there are some great games that were nominated for this year’s Game of the Year award. However, by taking a look at the list of six games, it’s clear that Game of the Year will be a close race between, likely, three of the six video games listed.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
When people vote on the game of the year, it usually means that the game had enough influence on them that year. Given the fact that Animal Crossing: New Horizons It was one of the most played and talked about games during 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s not surprising that I see this game on the list, especially since I can still hear people constantly talk about how much fun they still have in this game. IGN even gave this game a 9.0 out of 10. A rating this high isn’t given much and when IGN scores this high, it’s worth talking about.
The last time a Nintendo video game won Game of the Year was in 2017 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild House took the crown. Is the Nintendo video game going home again or will it drop a bit? I tell you what, this game definitely has what it takes to give the other candidates a chance to get their money. However, looking at a few other strong candidates in this category, I think so Animal Crossing: New Horizons It wouldn’t live up to winning the 2020 game.
