hometown: Bronx, New York
Previous school: Herbert Liman
statistics: 6’3 “, 210 lbs.
Commitment date: May 22, 2020
position: Full back
Ratings: 3 stars all the way.
Other offers: Malik was getting looks from British Columbia, University of New Jersey, Temple, Buffalo, Kent State, and Temple.
Expected Dino Title: Bronx Prowler
Player breakdown: At first glance, Malik looks like a Babers back: athletic, lightweight and compact, but he makes up for it with length and bang. While playing mid-back, Matthews demonstrated the ability to blast into the background, even after waiting for a read on option or wrong steering operation. This kind of lateral pacing would be crucial in 3-3-5, especially if he played in the outdoor roles. (He played as a full-back while in high school.) Linebacker is a busy hub for Syracuse at the moment, which he plays for Matthews: another 10-15 pounds would make him the perfect size to make better use of his flare and inclination to go into big play.
