Former University of San Diego midfielder and current backup of San Francisco 49s Josh Johnson in his thirteenth NFL season. When he’s not on the field, Johnson, like many people, loves playing video games, so much so that he co-founded the Ultimate Gaming League (UGL).
Johnson has some famous current and former NFL players who have joined him in UGL, including former NFL All-Pro running back Marcus Lynch, current Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, defensive back Ravens Marcus Peters and more.
The foundation of UGL is that these current and former players have shaped gaming franchises, and anyone who plays has a chance to join their franchise and play video games with and against the pros.
“It’s kind of creating the same kind of environment that we have as players in real life,” Johnson said. “It’s about games, so we have teams that play specific games and compete. It’s for competition but more for fun, more for interaction and content.”
Sharing is key. The unique thing about UGL is that it allows fans to interact with and approach professional athletes through video games. UGL even has “Pros vs Joes” video games competitions.
“You see our engaged side, we’re not in wrestler mode like on the pitch where we’re focused so intensely, I mean, it’s not wrong in my understanding, but we can’t pick up fans to play in 49 you can’t do that, but if you come across really good fans in Call of Duty or Madden, you might want to recruit him, make him into the stream and make him your player. “
Johnson’s first game set was Atari. Since then he’s been playing almost every video game, but what’s his favorite?
“Madden. Madden, I can kind of work on quarterback items,” Johnson said with a big smile.
The Ultimate Gaming League includes four gaming franchises, Da Fam Gaming, Ochocinco Gaming, 4 Brothers Gaming and Glitxh Gaming. The gaming teams and the professional athletes behind them can invite millions of their fans to join the team, not just watch the team. Once fans choose to join, they will have the opportunity to showcase their content on a larger stage and earn exclusive rewards such as playtime with their favorite athletes and celebrities.
Team Johnson is Da Fam Gaming. For more information on how to participate, visit www.uglworld.com.
