The Austrian government imposed a ban on flights from the United Kingdom from 1 June, fearing the Indian variant of the Coronavirus. That might affect the two Grand Ball races scheduled at Red Bull, but there could be a solution.
The double header is due to be shown in Austria on Sunday 27 June and Sunday 4 July, which could mean that both races are in danger. Many teams have their home base in the UK, or have to fly in a lot of individuals or parts of the country.
A possible solution arises in the form of GP France
However, a potential solution also appears immediately: a week ago, on Sunday 20 June, the Grand Prix of France was on the program. Therefore, Formula 1 employees could travel directly from France to Austria, which could result in this measure having a limited impact.
This is not the first time that Austria has imposed such a ban. All direct flights to and from the UK were banned in December. This ban continued until March 21.
