Martin Bartels, 22, is the third passing runner in the Amysoft Lycurgus selection for next season. The Dutchman, who has played at the University of Charleston in the United States for the past three years, signs a two-year contract. With the Bartels out there, there are thirteen known players.
“I am ready for the next step and in the Netherlands I would like to play with Lycurgus. Looking at the facilities, professional program and past successful years, I am very much looking forward to this new challenge,” says Bartels. Conversations with coach Arjan Tej and others within the club have given me a good feeling. How is Lycurgus handling The best sports I like very much.
The 1.95-meter tall player has a long life in volleyball. Born in Den Bosch and raised in Englen, on the outskirts of the capital of Brabant, Martin began playing volleyball at the age of six in Minerva in Dronen. Three years ago he went to America through various clubs. I had a great time there and was able to develop well. In my youth I always practiced a lot in technique and in America I added the physical aspect to my game.
There has been interest from Switzerland, England and Belgium, but Bartell is clearly his pick. Lycurgus is the next step in his football career. I want to get the most out of it every year. There is always room for improvement and development and the desire to win is in my genes.
