Bad second round for star golfer Van Damme at the games
07:38 am: Anne Van Damme was unable to improve in the second round of the Olympic golf tournament. She took a whopping 78 strokes, seven above the track average, and fell to 59th penultimate in the overall standings. Not all women finished the second round.
Van Damme hasn’t had a good season yet. She placed 123rd in the LPGA Women’s Golf Association’s annual rankings and dropped to 155th in the world rankings. In her last tournament before the games began, two weeks earlier at the Amondy Evian Championships in France, she finished at the bottom.
The women’s Olympic golf tournament may be shortened by one day. The weather forecast indicates that it is not possible to operate Saturday, the last planned day. Then it will be a tropical day with lots of thunderstorms on the track at Kasumigaseki Country Club.
“We told the participants that they should be prepared for the tournament in just three rounds,” the organization said. “Normally we would like to make a decision before the third round begins. But it is difficult. For now, we hope that expectations will look different tomorrow.”
German hockey players for the first time in 21 years without a medal
5.58 am: German hockey players have not won an Olympic medal for the first time in 21 years. The country lost the bronze medal battle to India 4-5. At Sydney 2000, the Germans had finished second on the podium for the last time.
The final is between Australia and Belgium. Australia was responsible for eliminating the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
The shot put Cruiser hits his favorite role in Tokyo

The 28-year-old American has set an Olympic record no less than three times. 22.83 on his first try, 22.93 on his second try and a win on the last time. This left him just 7 centimeters off the world record, which he was still throwing in June.
Citizen Joe Kovacs ranked second, ahead of New Zealander Tom Walsh. In Rio de Janeiro five years ago, the same men stood on the podium in the same order.
Djokovic is already looking forward to the 2024 Games in Paris
4.14 am: If Novak Djokovic was 34, he would still be there three years later at the Olympics. This made the number 1 in the world visible on Twitter.
“It was an honor to represent Serbia at the Olympics. I know for myself that I did everything to get a medal and I look forward to coming back strong in Paris,” the 20-time Grand Slam champion wrote on social media.
Djokovic lost his job at the Tokyo Olympics to secure the so-called “Golden Slam”, winning all four Grand Slam tournaments and an Olympic gold medal in the same year. Djokovic lost to Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals and also had to admit his superiority in the fight over the bronze medal in Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta.
Tennis players preparing for the US Open. The last major Grand Slam of the year starts on Monday, August 30th. Djokovic remains undefeated in this year’s major tournaments.
BMX rider Fields released from hospital after serious fall

He is now going home to continue his recovery with his family and friends. The 28-year-old rider himself reported on Twitter that his rehabilitation will also begin at home. “Right now, I can barely stand on my feet for 5 minutes, but we’re working on it.”
Field won the gold medal in Rio de Janeiro 2016, which has now gone to Dutchman Nick Keeman.
Less possible day of golf in Tokyo
2.42 hours: The women’s Olympic golf tournament may be shortened by one day. The weather forecast indicates that it is not possible to operate Saturday, the last planned day. Then it will be a tropical day with lots of thunderstorms on the track at Kasumigaseki Country Club.

The players have now started the second round. Dutchman Anne Van Dam had a disappointing first round.
