The popular meal-ordering website Thuisbezorgd.nl experienced a major outage for several hours tonight, preventing restaurants from taking orders from customers. In the meantime, it was still possible to order food from the site.
Customers and restaurateurs across the country have complained via social media that orders have not been fulfilled in the system and that people are waiting for a long time in vain to get a burger or a portion of sushi.
“Maybe it’s great to have a major outage that you are actively reporting to people,” Michel wrote for Thuisbezorgd.nl on Twitter. “It’s a shame: we paid, but after 70 minutes we had to know for ourselves that there was nothing in the way …”
Angry restaurateur: Why don’t you post on the site that you have a national glitch??? Keep spending good money for sure! Unfortunately, I’ve already lost over 1k in turnover. Nothing enters my system.”
Several restaurant owners have also reported that the site’s business number is unreachable. They recommended that people reorder from their restaurant’s website. The promise over the phone was that Thuisbezorgd.nl would return the money from the orders within a few days.
Thuisbezorgd.nl will inform you in a written statement tonight: There was already a short-lived problem that cut off part of the communication with affiliated restaurants. We are of course very sorry for the affected customers. We apologize and will make sure they get their money back and compensate for the inconvenience. This malfunction has since been resolved.”
