The 70th anniversary of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth will also be celebrated in Australia this year. Several events are organized across the country to celebrate the Queen’s platinum anniversary.

“Seventy years of service is truly a huge achievement, and we are proud to celebrate this achievement with other Commonwealth nations,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a statement. Special commemorative stamps and coins will be presented, and monuments across Australia will be illuminated.
Morrison said Aspen Island in Canberra will also be renamed Queen Elizabeth II Island in June. The National Carillon is also located on the island. “Since Her Majesty officially opened the National Carillon in 1970, it was only fitting that Aspen Island be renamed after her in recognition of her years of service in Australia,” Morrison said.
In the UK, Elizabeth’s Platinum Anniversary is celebrated in early June with an additional holiday and a multi-day program that includes a special show. Preparations are already in full swing.
