Samsung sent a message about the essence of its future flagship initiatives, having missed its own event, where it had to introduce a new chipset.
The Exynos 2200 is the first chipset that Samsung developed in collaboration with AMD – a new cause for concern for Intel, which appears to be losing ground.
Due to the fact that it is based on the RDNA 2 architecture, the Xclipse GPU used by the Exynos 2200 will provide on smartphones a number of features that were previously reserved for computers.
Among other things, mobile games will benefit from hardware accelerated ray tracing.
Otherwise, the Exynos 2200 is built on a 4nm process, and the processor will have eight cores. Four of them will be consumer, three will maintain a balance between performance and energy efficiency, and one will be performance-exclusive.
The image processor will support cameras with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels.
The new chipset will be used for the first time in the upcoming Galaxy S22 series, expected at an event on February 8th.
