The time has come: the United States will have its own version of the Eurovision Song Contest. Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson will American Song Contest Present.
The song contest has been gaining popularity in the United States for years. NBC now offers a US version, in which fifty US states plus Washington DC and a number of US territories (such as Puerto Rico) compete against each other. In total there will be 56 participants.

All participants must bring a new number. The formula will span an eight-week period and three rounds (qualifiers, semi-finals and finals), from Episode One on March 21 to the Grand Final on May 9. This is ahead of the “Real” Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, which can be seen from Tuesday 10 May to Saturday 14 May. The Eurovision Song Contest was first held in 1956.
