Vlogger Don de Jong has been discredited after a video of his trip to Budapest. In the video, the 22-year-old vlogger tells about the trip that took place “during the invasion of Ukraine”. But this went the wrong way with many of his followers.
In the vlog, which is no longer on De Jong’s YouTube channel, the popular YouTuber lets his followers know that he has safely returned home from his trip to Budapest. That flight coincided with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which occurred at least 1,200 kilometers away.
Just a little scared
“It was a little scary. I was there this morning and when I woke up there was an invasion of Ukraine. But I’m home again No worry‘, says the vlogger who has over 1 million subscribers on YouTube.

The video was noticed by the Twitter account How can I do this about me, where many videos about influencers are posted. The reactions under the fifteen-second video show a lot of incomprehension.
Angry comments under the video
Budapest is located only 1200 km from Kyiv. Like from Brussels to Barcelona,” someone wrote below the video. “Wonderful! scary! I was in Brussels during the invasion #Ukraine…He came home quickly… He was only a hair away! Another answered. “I had to go to Drenthe yesterday. It doesn’t matter much. I’m doing well and I’m back in North Holland,” another person wrote. Another joked: “Officially it won’t be okay with the world now.”
This is not the first time that the 22-year-old vlogger has lost his credibility. Last year, De Jong received a lot of criticism for a vlog about a flight on September 11th. “I flew on 9/11 and we survived our flight,” he said in a video at the time. This also caused angry reactions from his followers.
