James Murray, the actor who plays Prince Andrew on Netflix’s series The Crown, thinks it’s not his job to form an opinion about Andrew. Murray told British talk show This Morning on Tuesday.
“I’m a professional and it’s not my job to feel or feel too much about the character I’m playing,” said the 47-year-old actor. “We also have to remember that with the story of The Crown, we’re currently in the ’90s, before all the things we know now.”
Murray thinks he should “just” do what the script says. “I’m looking for Andrew and playing a fictional character. If I don’t, it gets in the way.” That Murray would crawl into the skin of a British prince has been around for a long time, but the actor has now admitted that. “I can confirm that I’m playing a character named Andrew Windsor in The Crown.”
The Duke of York is under fire over allegations that he had multiple sexes with then-underage teen Virginia Joffrey years ago. However, Andrew has always denied this. Eventually, the abuse case was taken to a court in the United States, where Andrew and Geoffrey reached a settlement.
