MV Agusta’s global sales performance grew only slowly in 2021, with (almost) all other motorcycle brands showing exponential growth. Globally, MV Agusta sold a total of 4,145 engines in 2021, an increase of 6.6%. In Europe, sales increased by only 2%. This is evident from the numbers from MotorcyclesData.
In Western Europe, the famous Italian brand grew only 2.3%, but there were also some positive outliers, such as Spain (+64.1%), Hungary (+30%), Bulgaria (+114%), France (+15%) ) and Switzerland (+15%). Sales in Italy have risen steadily (+2.8%), but decreases have also been reported: in Germany (-21.9%), Austria (-30.6%), Norway (-36.7%) and the Czech Republic (-33.3%).
MV Agusta experienced a stable period under the leadership of the Russian Timur Sardarov, who departed from Giovanni Castigilioni. However, the company is still on the mind regarding the model’s strategy. On the other hand, there is a classic option of very exclusive models, preferably in a more exclusive special edition. But, on the other hand, the brand with “entry-class models” is trying to create volume in the Rosso line, in which the image of the ultra-high-quality brand is expanded by models that would make the brand more accessible.
