The open source ExplorerPatcher tool can return the tiled Start Menu from Windows 10 to Windows 11. In addition, the small utility allows many interesting interventions in the Start Menu, which cannot be performed with the resources available on board the operating system.
The ExplorerPatcher system tool, just released in version 22000.556.42.38, supports all versions of Windows 11 including version 22000.556 and returns the well-known start menu of Windows 10 with the optional list of all installed apps and favorite apps attached using tiles. The entire Windows 10 start menu can be restored using the tool.
In addition, the open source application supports many other mods that allow individual start menus such as the one in the cover of this letter.
- Choose between the Windows 11 or Windows 10 taskbar (with support for stickers, small icons, and plenty of customization).
- Disable the Windows 11 context menu, command bar in File Explorer, and more.
- Open Start to All apps by default, choose how many frequent apps to display, display on the active screen, and more.
- Choose from window changer 11, Windows 10 and Windows NT Alt-Tab with customization.
- Lots of improvements in the quality of life of the projectile, such as:
- The skin tray menus to match the Windows style, make it act like a popup and center it relative to the icon.
- Choose an action on left click and/or right click on the network icon.
- Return to the Windows 7 search box in File Explorer, or disable Windows Search completely.
- Disable immersive menus and use mitigations that help you play the true classic theme without errors.

Also, ExplorerPatcher has two new features beyond restoring the Start Menu from Windows 10, such as developer alias Valentin Gabriel Radu. valenite Announce in the release notes the latest version on the GitHub developer platform.
Rounded corners, no more recommendations
As can be seen in the cover photo of this message, the tool makes it possible to restore the Windows 10 start menu. However, if desired, this can be provided with the rounded corners of the Windows 11 GUI and thus better adapted to the design of the new operating system.
The “Recommended” area of the Windows 11 start menu, which many users find annoying, can be hidden using ExplorerPatcher options and the entire acquired space can be used with installed applications. An option that Microsoft has not yet included in Windows 11.
Independent weather widget in the notification area
Also new is the standalone weather widget for the notification area in Windows 11, which does not need the otherwise rendered news area and can be viewed either compactly or in detail.
