Cowboy, the Belgian company that specializes in developing electric bikes for urban commuters, has raised nearly €3.2 million through a crowdfunding campaign. The funds will be used for further geographic expansion, among other things. The company announced this on Thursday.
After an initial round of private capital for 24 hours, the campaign was opened to everyone. The initial goal was 1 million euros, but at the end of the campaign ten days later, the balance was 3,195,729 euros, according to Cowboy. Together, they introduced 2,279 investors from 31 different countries, who put an average of 1,402 euros on the table. Most of the investments were made from the UK, the Netherlands and France.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of this crowdfunding round. It reinforces our belief that we have the right ingredients to positively change urban mobility,” said Cowboy CEO and Co-founder Adrien Roose.
Cowboy was founded in Brussels in 2017, and the company is now active in Belgium, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom and the United States.
