The race weekend in Australia is about to start. However, if you want to follow the first free practice directly, you will have to get up early. This is because on Friday kicks off at 05:00 Dutch time.
Formula 1 will return to Albert Park Street for the first time since 2020 this weekend. Two years ago, the event was called off at the last minute due to the pandemic, with the last race at Down Under going back to 2019. Then it was Valtteri Bottas who crossed the line first, followed by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. This third place is the Dutch player’s best result in Australia.
Albert Park Street Circuit
The race will take place at Albert Park Street in Melbourne. The circuit is partly permanent and partly built. In the past year, a number of major changes were made to the asphalt, which should enhance overtaking. Although Australia is a favorite of many fans, the last few releases have mainly been driven on a train. You can read all about the modified circuit here.
Australian Grand Prix schedule – Dutch time
Because of the big time difference with Holland and Australia, the schedule is very different from what we know from European races. If you want to follow all the sessions live, you will have to keep an alarm clock handy. The weekend kicks off Friday, April 8 with the first free practice session. This will be held at 05:00. The second training session will follow at 08:00. Saturday 9th April starts at 05:00 with the third and final free practice. Qualifiers will take place at 08:00. On Sunday 10 April it is time for the Australian Grand Prix at 07:00.
