Lidewij Welten exchanges record champion HC Den Bosch after this season for the Kampong middle engine. This can be safely called a very abrupt diversion.
The 31-year-old has so far claimed twelve national titles with Bosch (where she was in her seventeenth season) and has won eleven European Cups. At HC Den Bosch, no one wants to officially confirm the news about the transfer, but various good sources within the club confirm the news.
With the Dutch national team, Welten – who has already played 229 games for the Orange and scored 90 times – won fourteen major awards, including three Olympic golds.
“I am proud to see a world-class player like Lidewij play in Kampong uniforms,” says Rodrik Weusthof, Member of the Tophockey Board of Directors in Utrecht. “She brings with her a lot of experience and fits in perfectly with the ambitions of our beautiful club.”
