Demi Shores reached the WTA Finals in Madrid with her doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk. Schurz and Krause defeated Australian Storm Sanders and China’s Shuai Zhang in two sets: 7-5, 7-6 (5). Earlier today, Wesley Kohlhoff reached the semi-finals of the doubles at the Madrid Masters.
It’s Shores’ second victory today. Shores previously qualified for the round of four with her American partner, defeating American tennis players Cory Gauff and Jessica Pegula. In the final, Schurz and Krause will face Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada and Juliana Olmos of Mexico.
This is the second final of the Schuurs this year. She previously won the Stuttgart doubles tournament with Krawczyk.
Kolhof
Kolhoff beat Briton Neil Skopsky, Bosnian Tomislav Bricic and Serbian Nikola Kacic 6-3 6-7 (6) 10-2. Kohlhoff recently lost the Barcelona Clay Court Final to Skopsky. For a place in the final of the tournament in Madrid, he has to compete with Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz and American John Isner.
