Novak Djokovic reached the semi-finals of the Masters Tournament in Rome on Friday. The five-time winner settled on Italian clay in two long sets with Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (7-5, 7-6 (1)) and thus remains number one in the world.
Djokovic made his debut against Auger Aliassime (ATP-9). The twenty-time Grand Slam winner, who lost first place in the world standings to Daniil Medvedev in defeat, struggled to deliver the final blow in both sets.
Auger-Aliassime was back to 5-5 in the first set after trailing 5-3, but had to bend in the twelfth game when he was broken a second time.
