LONDON (Reuters) – Nestlé (NESN.S) said on Tuesday it was moving supplies of infant formula from the Netherlands and Switzerland to the United States to reduce shortages in American supermarkets.
Nestlé said in a statement emailed to Reuters that Nestlé ships Gerber infant formula to the United States from the Netherlands and Alfamino infant formula from Switzerland to the United States.

“We have prioritized these products because they serve a critical medical purpose, as they are intended for children who are allergic to cow’s milk protein,” the company said. “Both products were already imported, but we moved shipments and traveled for urgent needs.”
Baby milk aisles in US supermarkets have been emptied by panicked parents since major US manufacturer Abbott Laboratories (ABT.N) recalled dozens of types of Similac, Alimentum and EleCare formulas in February.
Reckitt Benckiser Inc. (RKT.L) is increasing infant formula production by about 30 percent and increasing frequent store deliveries to address shortages at supermarkets in the United States, a director of Reckitt Benckiser Inc. (RKT.L) told Reuters on Tuesday. Read more
