Volkov has a karate background and also trains a lot of jiu-jitsu. Volkov says he’s studying boxing, too. He loves hitting and punching a lot. Somewhat similar to Dutch boxing legend Simi Schilt. Volkov has also trained a lot with Schilts in the past and is still in contact with the man from Zuidlaren. Schilt helped Volkov with his preparations in his match against Stefan Struve in Rotterdam. The Dutchman was also at Volkov’s corner that evening.
Volkov knows he needs to win a few more matches to get back to the top. He lost to a lot of people in the top five and needs more wins. He hopes to be able to start with this on Saturday.
Drago
His nickname “Drago” actually comes as expected from a Rocky movie. When Volkov first fought in the United States, he was compared to Ivan Drago. Russian boxer, played by Dolph Lundgren.
