Bob Jungles finished the Tour of Switzerland on Sunday with fifth place in the time test and sixth in the general classification. Nice boost for Luxembourg, who made their first ten bids in a year and a half with the AG2R Citroën team.
Jungels have had many back problems in recent years so his talent never showed up in 2020 (still in Quick Step) and 2021. In 2022, those issues seem to be largely resolved, so he can focus again on his performance on the bike.
“I had a great week,” Happy Jungels says on his team’s website. I am very happy to be back. It was a tough cycle, it was warm, but I felt really good from day one, apparently.
Jungels wants confirmation in the coming weeks
“The only thing I regret is that I wasted time on the second and fourth days,” Luxemburger continues. “But during the Tour I made progress. I feel relieved to be one of the top riders again and I hope to confirm that in the coming days. Jungels usually go to the Tour de France, where they finished 11th in 2018.
He adds on Instagram: “Good to be fast again! “I am pleased with the results and would like to thank everyone for the confidence they have given me over the years,” the 29-year-old said.
