The gold went to the Swedish Sarah Sjostrom. She was 24.95 faster than Melanie Henick of France (25.31) and Yufei Zhang of China (25.32).
With 25.85, De Waard was a little slower than Thursday’s 25.75 in the semifinals. That was her best character.
Fifth relay team
There was no new relay medal for the Netherlands in the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay. The quartet took fifth place, far behind the medal positions.
Stan Bijnenberg was the first to start and he really had to give up a level playing field against the toppers. So Jesse Potts had to start from seventh and hold that position. The same goes for Tessa Gilly, but Marit Steenbergen had the 100m at home and swam the Netherlands to fifth.
Gold went to Australia, Canada and the United States.
Infinite de Rhone and Bosch, disqualification of Metz
Valerie de Roon and Kim Bosch secured a place in the final in the 50-meter freestyle race at the World Championships in longitude in Budapest. De Roon finished sixth in the first semi-final in 25.19. Bosch finished eighth in the second semi-final at the same time. De Roon and Bosch eventually shared thirteenth out of sixteen semi-finalists.
Poland’s Katarzyna Wasek was the fastest in Saturday’s final with a score of 24.11.
Rosie Metz failed to reach the final of the 50m breaststroke. She was eliminated in her semi-finals.
