Grevenbicht / Papenhoven –
This year, St. Cecilia Grevenbecht-Bapenhoven once again participates in the concert competitions of the World Music Competition (WMC) concert bands in Kerkrade on Sunday 17 July.
In this WMC version, Saint Cecilia is the only Limburg wind troupe to have participated in the first band, along with orchestras from countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Lithuania, Spain and Portugal. At half past eight in the evening the musicians, led by conductor Joss Simmons, took their place on the stage at Rodhull. This makes the Grevenbicht-Papenhoven Orchestra end of the day.
Meanwhile, St. Cecilia’s musicians are busy with final preparations: on Sunday, July 10, the orchestra will play along with Fanfare St. St. Cecilia Rotem’s Orchestra at the Landgraaf Cultural Attractions. The party starts at 6 pm.
On Saturday 16 July at 7.30pm, the orchestra will present its final preparatory concert as part of the Grensmaasvallei Cultural Festival in St. Williborduskerk in Obbicht. The concert is titled ‘Imagination’ and will be performed with the State Wind Orchestra Trimitas Orchestra from Vilnius – Lithuania. Both orchestras will play WMC’s obligatory Nitescense crépusculaire by French composer Alexandre Cosmicki. Wind Band Saint Cecilia also plays El Jardín de Hera by José Súñer-Oriola.
Concert tickets at Obbicht cost €10 each and are available via www.cecilia-online.nl/shop.
