Apple comes up with a strong counterpart to Spotify sessions

Better late than never: Apple Music comes with sessions. This is a direct counterpart to Spotify sessions, which have been around for years. The two session initiatives come to the same thing: famous artists making a live recording (consisting of three songs) that can only be heard on this streaming service. Only Apple Music has something special up its sleeve: spatial audio.

Spatial sound is spatial sound, in which sound appears more spatially. This makes the listener feel more as if you were there, which of course offers a great added value, especially in the case of live recording. In addition, Apple also has videos, which is something Spotify is not very good at. For example, you cannot watch videos belonging to songs on Spotify, which you can watch with Apple Music. With Spotify, you can only see a small part.

As far as we’re concerned, early adopters are some special options. They are artists from two countries, doing well especially in the United States. Carrie Underwood is more famous outside the US with her before he cheated, but Tinnel Towns is less well known in the rest of the world. On the other hand, it’s a good way to introduce sessions: This Apple Studio is located in Nashville, the heart of country music. However, there is more around the world.

Plus, Apple made a smart choice by having artists do coverage as well. In doing so, it competed with another music initiative, the BBC Live Lounge. In this case, we hear the Ozzy Osbourne Mama song, I’m Going Home to Underwood and Etta James’ “At Last” by Townes. Now these are somewhat old-fashioned songs, but the wrappers always work well in a modern jacket.

The following artists are also known: Ingrid Andres and Ronnie Dunn. These are also country type artists. We hope other genres will be added soon to expand this new feature. Apple says it intends to, but it doesn’t seem to have caught Drakes or Harry Styles in the world for a session just yet.

However, it is worth checking out the sessions of country artists. Spatial audio is very distinct when you hear it (not for nothing that Netflix recently added). Spatial sound has been “ingrained” in Apple devices for some time, such as AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, Beats Fit Pro, and third-generation AirPods.
