The current economic situation and labor shortage makes hiring remote employees more attractive to companies. The benefits of remote working have not gone unnoticed by the Dutch parliament. For example, the creation of remote work as a legal right was recently announced in the Netherlands, making it one of the first countries to do so. This trend is also being embraced worldwide: the recruitment of remote employees has increased by 145%. This is evidenced by the second edition of the State of Global Employment Report recently published by Deel, the online platform for all administrative and legal matters related to remote hiring and rewarding employees.
Global increase in remote talent recruitment
More and more companies around the world are recruiting remote talents. The pioneers in Latin America seem to be the fastest growing (161%), followed by countries in Asia (159%). EMEA grew by 155% and the US by 149%. Argentina, the Philippines, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States are also some of the most attractive countries for talent recruitment.
With the high demand for employees and the lack of available candidates, companies are looking beyond their national borders to find the best talent. As a result, there is a shift towards less costly countries which has resulted in higher salaries around the world, especially in Italy (175%), Brazil (174%) and India (158%). The Netherlands ranks seventh out of 10 with a score of 155%.
Despite the harsh ‘crypto winter’, cryptocurrency payments are still growing as a means of payment. 5% of the companies Deel cooperates with will pay their crypto employees this year. That was just 2% last year. Countries in Latin America (67%) and EMEA (24%) appear to be the most likely to accept cryptocurrency payments, with Bitcoin (47%) being the most popular, followed by USDC at 29%.

Jobs for software developers and in the product or design sectors are most common among remote workers. London, Toronto, and Buenos Aires are also some of the most popular cities.

After all, Italy, Nigeria, and the Netherlands are seeing the largest average salary increase for all job titles.
