Immediately after the new iPhone went on sale, reports of serious camera problems were already circulating: the camera did not seem to work properly, especially in third-party applications.
The new image stabilization feature on the improved main camera of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max doesn’t seem to work as intended. Reports are piling up on social media and Apple forums that the lens has started to vibrate audibly when in use.
The problem may occur when using third-party apps like Snapchat, TikTok, or Instagram. The new 48-megapixel camera lens moves. This should actually compensate for fluctuations in the transmission of video recordings. The new Action Mode aims to ensure a stable image.
But here the opposite effect is achieved. Lens movement occurs when the smartphone is lying down and appears to be much more powerful than intended. The issues were not noticed when using the iOS Camera app. This indicates that the applications are not yet adapted to the new camera technology.
The solution to the problem was not expected yet
For some, lens vibration appears to have caused permanent damage. Even when using the iPhone’s normal camera apps, it was no longer possible to focus the image, and the images became correspondingly blurry.
So, YouTuber Luke Miani has been provided with an alternative device from Apple. The exact cause of the problem and whether it can be fixed with a software update is currently unclear.
