Takaaki Nakagami has had surgery on his right hand for the third time. The Japanese suffered serious injuries after crashing on the opening lap of the Aragon Grand Prix after being tapped by Marc Marquez.

Within two months, Takaaki Nakagami had already had three surgeries on his right ring finger and little finger. On Sunday, September 18th, he crashed on the opening lap of the Aragon Grand Prix after being hit by Marc Marquez. The Japanese slipped on the asphalt, and his right hand was damaged.

The Japanese underwent surgery the next day in Barcelona, after which he flew home to take part in his first Japanese Grand Prix since 2019. Nakagami naturally wanted to participate at any cost, but he came last and the result was that his ring finger and little finger were further damaged. .

The LCR Honda Idemitsu rider then missed Grand Prix races in Thailand, Australia and Malaysia before returning to Valencia for the final Grand Prix of the season and the all-important test on Tuesday. Now back in his country, Nakagami decided to operate on him a third time because one of the tendons had not healed properly.

On the Tuesday after testing in Valencia, Nakagami was asked if taking part in the Japanese Grand Prix was an error of hindsight and whether the return to the Valencia Grand Prix was too early, with some hesitation he finally admitted anyway.

However, now that there is enough time to recover, the first time Nakagami will ride his Honda RC213V again will be on the weekend of February 10-12 during the first official test at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
