The number of charging stations in Italy
Traveling to Italy by electric car is easy. In 2023, there will be 23,543 charging stations in the land of pizza and pasta*. You will find at least one in every Italian village and every city. Therefore, Italy ranks fifth in Europe in terms of the number of charging stations. They are particularly strongly represented in the North. Italy has made great progress in recent years. However, cities are a bit behind when you look at the number of charging stations per inhabitant, especially if you compare it to our country. It is no coincidence that the Netherlands ranks first among all European countries in the number of charging stations: more than 90,000 units*. But don’t worry: There will be plenty for your Italy trip, too.
Charging station providers
Most of the public charging points in Italy are from them Enel Network: the largest national energy supplier in Italy. There are also some other (smaller) providers, such as BeCharge, Free-to-x, NextCharge, Duferco, and Alperia.
Please note: your international shipping label may sometimes be refused by ENEL Express Chargers. So arrange one in advance ENEL-X shipping label or upload Joyce Pass app.r on your smartphone.
The way to your vacation destination
On your way to Italy? Then you drive through several countries, such as Germany, France, Belgium and Switzerland. Fortunately, there are also enough charging stations in these countries: Germany (59,410 units*) and France (37,128 units*) come in second and third respectively when looking at the number of charging stations. Although Switzerland is not in the top five, the country’s network of charging stations has sufficient coverage.
Are you staying at a hotel or other accommodation along the way? Then always ask in advance if there can be one here charging station He is. Very useful, so that you can charge your car while enjoying a good night’s sleep.
Before you leave, always read the traffic rules of the countries you are driving through. Also, make sure you have good car insurance and suitable travel insurance before you start your trip to make your trip to the South more comfortable.
Sometimes free shipping is possible
And in some places in Italy you can also charge your electric car for free. For example, if you are driving along the Brenner Lane on the A22 towards Plessy Museum? Then you will pass a charging yard where charging points can be used absolutely free. Dutch charging stations can still charge a point (charge) from that!
Useful: Use the app
So it’s easy to make an electric car vacation to Italy. Do you want to know where exactly the charging stations are located? There are many apps you can download for that. Here you can see exactly where the charging stations are located. Don’t look at the app until you’re on the road: sometimes the nearest charging station is just kilometers away. This is annoying when your battery is almost empty. So, before you leave home, plan your route carefully and see where you will charge your car along the way. This prevents range anxiety: the fear that your electric car won’t have enough battery charge to reach your destination, leaving you stranded somewhere.
well prepared…
Half of it has been completed. So don’t go on a trip unprepared when you go to Italy (for the first time) with your electric car. Check in advance where the (express) charging points are located and plan your route in advance. This way you can go to the “boot” with peace of mind and enjoy a well-deserved vacation.
