How can we search for a term in WhatsApp?
Did you talk to your chat contacts about something a long time ago or recently and want to quickly recall the information again, but can’t find the relevant message? Don’t worry! Search your conversations quickly with this step-by-step guide.
This is how all iPhone users do it!
Search all chats:
- Open the WhatsApp chat overview and swipe down to reveal the search box at the top of the screen.
- Enter the word you are looking for in the “Search” field. The messaging service will now provide you with all the chats in which the search term was used.
- Scroll through the messages related to the result until you find the information you’re looking for.
- Click on the affected chat to open the message there. WhatsApp takes you to the word you’re looking for and flags it in yellow – so you can see the relevant information directly.
Browse individual and group chats:
- Open the chat where you want to find the information.
- Click on the contact or group name at the top of your screen.
- Tap the “Search” field on the magnifying glass to open another search field in the chat history.
- Now enter the term you are searching for. WhatsApp then marks all search results in yellow. If there are multiple results, the number of results will be displayed above the keyboard. To the right of this you can then use the blue arrow button to search related messages.
How does it work on Android devices!
Browse all chats:
- Click on the search function with the magnifying glass at the top of the screen.
- In the search field, type the term or phrase you want to search for in chats.
- All possible search results appear in the list in which the corresponding keyword appears. Scroll through the messages until you find the result you want.
- If you find the relevant message, you can simply click on it to open the chat history. WhatsApp then automatically goes to the part of the conversation you’re searching for and marks your search term in yellow.
Browse individual and group chats:
- Open the individual or group chat where the message was exchanged. Click on “More Options” which has the three dots at the top of the screen.
- Select the search option from the list and enter the keyword you are looking for. Then tap on the magnifying glass icon.
- If there are multiple clicks, you can use the arrow icons to move from one message to the next. The word you are searching for is automatically highlighted in yellow for faster searching.
