Three Bulgarians suspected of spying for Russia have been detained in the UK since February. BBC reveals this. The three are said to have worked for Russian security services and were tracked down during a major British national security investigation.
The suspects, two men aged 45 and 41 and a 31-year-old woman, are accused of possessing ID cards with “wrong intentions”. Passports, identity cards and other documents from at least nine different countries were found, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Greece. According to the British, the three were aware that the papers were forged.
It is not known what information the alleged spies collected and passed on to Russia. They allegedly worked for the Russian security services. It is said that Bulgarians lived in the UK for years and had various jobs. They are scheduled to appear in court in London next January.
