Totam Seeds introduces TopGun origin after several years of testing under high-tech greenhouse conditions.
“TopGun shows early maturity, with better results during the first 33-35 weeks of production, maintaining the taste, color and size of the grafted variety,” says Peter Vermeulen, Product Development Manager at Totam Seeds. The company specializes in developing, growing and selling high-quality hybrid tomato seeds for high-tech horticultural markets.
“TopGun combines powerful power with a regenerative, open canopy. It is easier to control the yield and maintain a balanced plant. Balanced plants also save labor and energy costs.”
Jacques Groenewegen, co-owner of The Valley and president of Prominent, one of the largest farmer associations in the Netherlands with more than 600 hectares of high-tech tomato production, has decided to use TopGun in his commercial greenhouse for next season.
“TopGun is a strong, regenerative rootstock,” he says. “Given the robust and vegetative properties of existing grafts, including several recently introduced ToBRFV-resistant varieties, a strong, regenerative rootstock is needed. TopGun is a good combination. Totam has also developed ToBRFV-resistant rootstock, and we are pleased We also see it performing well in our greenhouse.”
