Every three years, owners of older Samsung models are faced with a crucial choice: either forego important security updates or buy a newer model that continues to receive regular updates.
Samsung divides its security updates into three categories:
- New mid-range models In addition, flagship devices from the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, such as the Galaxy S23, Note 20, or Galaxy Z Fold3, receive monthly security updates.
- Older devices Like the Galaxy S10 Lite, the M22 and Galaxy A32 models receive updates every three months.
- Devices that handle this The end of the three-year support is approaching, and receive updates less frequently. Examples of this are the Galaxy A11 and Galaxy M12.
These categories are updated regularly by Samsung, which means that devices in the last category will sooner or later be excluded from update support.
With the September update, Samsung has removed the popular Galaxy Note 10 series from this cycle. Only the Note 10 Lite is still on the list of supported devices. In addition, the Z Flip 5G switched from monthly to quarterly updates, and the Galaxy M21 (2021) switched from quarterly to semi-annual updates.
