iOS 17.1: Apple brings many innovations to the iPhone

iOS 17.1 is about to be released. Apple will likely make the system available for everyone to download starting Tuesday. iPhone users can look forward to these new features.

Apple will likely release iOS 17.1 next Tuesday. The interim iOS update improves bug fixes in particular. But two new functions also stand out:

• Improvements to sending files via AirDrop: Anyone sending larger files, high-resolution photos or videos between two Apple devices via AirDrop will be happy to know that transfers can now also be completed over mobile connections when outside of normal AirDrop range. Requirement: Both devices must be signed in to iCloud.
• New standby function: Standby mode is an information screen introduced in iOS 17 when the iPhone is charged and turned into landscape mode. With iOS 17.1, you can more precisely determine when the screen should go off. The options are “Automatically,” “After 20 Seconds,” and “Never.”

In addition, Apple is also promising some bug fixes: This aims to solve the issue where the numeric keypad can only be used very slowly on some devices. The bug that can cause ghostly, burn-in images to appear on the screen should also be eliminated with iOS 17.1. Incident detection on iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 should also be improved.

Pre-install iOS 17.1

Nearly a month after the release of iOS 17.0, the first major functionality update is coming to iOS 17.1.

Most iPhone users can sit back, relax and wait for the official updates next week. Distribution should begin on the evening of October 23 or 24. If you can’t wait, you can install a pre-release version.

• Back up your iPhone or important data on it
• Sign up on Apple’s beta support page using your Apple ID. It is important that you sign in to your iPhone with the same Apple ID.
• Now go to iPhone Settings and go to the menu item “General”, “Software Update”.
• Here you can turn on Beta Updates.
• The latest iOS beta will now be offered for download to anyone who has selected “iOS 17 Public Beta.”
