The Israeli Armed Forces said they carried out the largest raid to date in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday night into Thursday. The Israeli army said it was a “targeted raid” before the “next phase of the fighting.”
Israeli soldiers stormed the border with a bulldozer and tanks fired grenades at the damaged buildings. “The soldiers have since withdrawn,” the Israeli army said.
Israeli armed forces are reported to have been active on a small scale in the Palestinian territories themselves since the Hamas attack on October 7. The Israeli army also carried out a small raid on Sunday.
Israel is expected to launch a ground attack on the Gaza Strip. The armed forces took up positions around the border with the region and said several times that Hamas must be “destroyed.” This requires a major invasion of the Gaza Strip.
