Aalsmeer – “The unthinkable, the unachievable, the unbelievable has become a reality. We achieved the goal. It worked.” “Sass can go to Australia,” wrote Lindsay van Dijk from the group of friends who created the crowdfunding campaign for singer Saskia Vincevik. “Finally, after twenty years of suffering from her debilitating illness, the road to recovery can become a reality for Saskia.”
Big blessing song
The final crowdfunding event was the Denk aan de Buren charity concert last Sunday at the Parish House. The Teardrop Choir sang the stars of the sky with an entertaining rendition of many famous teardrop and sailor songs. During the intermission, the room lit up as Saskia surprised the audience with her presence and, along with the choir, moved many to tears with her beautiful Grote Boled.
Lindsay continues: “After the ceremony, we were able to announce to the attendees and to Saskia the wonderful news – which was now on our lips: we had met and exceeded our target amount of €38,000 (€41,335).” The look in Saskia’s eyes said more than she could put into words.
Infinitely grateful
The Friends Group and Saskia would like to thank everyone who supported this crowdfunding from the bottom of their hearts. “We are infinitely grateful,” Lindsay said. “You made our dream a reality. Every donation, small and large, came from a loving and selfless heart and each time brought us one step closer to this massive target amount. “Thank you again to the donors, companies, organizations, websites, artists, helping hands and supportive shoulders. We couldn’t have done it all without you.”
Accommodation and transportation
The end of this successful project means the beginning of a special and intense process for Saskia. She hopes to begin treatment in January. However, the work of the group of friends is not finished yet. After crowdfunding, the next steps are to find shelter and transportation for Saskia on the Gold Coast in Australia.
