Today there were no cross country races in Belgium only for the World Cup in Dendermonde. Cyclo-cross races were also on the program in Switzerland, France and Hungary. The Belgians had particular success in Debrecen, Hungary.

Today’s Velopark Debrecen Grand Prix was held in Debrecen, Hungary’s second largest city with a population of over 200,000. In this C2 cross we saw an all-Belgian podium for the women. Susanne Verhoeven, daughter of former sporting and professional director Nico Verhoeven, crossed the line first. Lara Devore came in second place, and Audrey de Keersmaeker came in third place. Belgium was also in the lead among men, thanks to Ferry Geraerts.

In Switzerland, it’s time for the Radquer Hittnau race on Sunday, a classic date in Swiss cyclo-cross. In the men’s race, home rider Timon Roig was able to bring euphoria to the crowd by beating his compatriot Dario Lillo in the snow. Italian Joel Bertolini was the third man on the podium.

Among the women we also saw an Italian on the podium, but on the highest stage. Sarah Casasola, who finished a surprise third at the European Championships in Ponchato last week, defeated France’s Beren Clausel and Switzerland’s Rebecca Esterman.

Finally, several French bike covers were at the start of the Coupe de France round in Albi today. Amandine Fouquent was able to dominate the women’s race, defeating Julie Pijou and Lorient Duraforge. In the men’s match, Tony Berrio took flowers home. Valentin Raymondet came in second place, and Florian Gaillard crossed the finish line in third place.
