Uruma Herbal Company, known for its products in most supermarkets, has fallen into Japanese hands. Investment firm Marubeni plans to acquire Zwolle entirely.
Euroma’s predecessor was founded in Zwolle in 1899. In more than a hundred years and through numerous acquisitions, the company has grown to become one of the largest herbal suppliers in the Netherlands. In addition to Zwolle, the company has production sites in Nijkerk and Schijndel.
Euroma spice jars are available in almost all supermarkets in the Netherlands and Belgium. The brand is also known for its collaboration with star chef Zwolle Johnny Boyer of De Librije restaurant.
In 2021, Joruma was given the royal title. This is an acknowledgment that the company occupies an important position in this field and has national importance. These designations are only given to companies that have been around for at least a hundred years.
In June 2021, Japanese company Marubeni already acquired a stake in Euroma. The Japanese company then announced its intention to acquire the entire company in the long term. According to Euroma, Marubeni could help the herbal company achieve further growth internationally.
