The leader of the LEF, a relatively unknown youth party, took to the stage and shouted at point-blank range at politicians from the VVD, the National Security Council and GroenLinks-PvdA that they belonged to “old politics.” He told VVD leader Dylan Yeşilgoz that her party “should never come to power again.”
The boy, Daniel Van Duyne, was taken out by security. He continued to scream loudly, as can be seen in the pictures below. Shortly after the incident, the discussion continued:
Security handed Van Duyne over to the police. A police spokesman said that officers decided to arrest him.
Trying to attract attention
According to opinion polls, the chances of the new party LEF are slim and it is trying to attract attention through its striking actions. The party says on its website that Van Duyne “demanded the youth’s voice be highlighted.”
Van Duijn had previously disrupted Buitenhof’s broadcast by pasting a poster of his party on the window of the registration site.
The activist called Peter Omtzgut an “old fart.” Then he turned to Yeşilgoz and said: “Your party should never come to power again. You are letting the people down.”
Frans Timmermans (GL-PvdA) accused that his party had handed over the Netherlands to capitalism.
“We could not have expected this”
Politicians reacted with shock and wondered how the protester had been accepted into the discussion audience. NOS said it would find out. It was not classified as a risk in advance. A NOS spokesman said: “We could not have predicted that he would do this.”
