Anthropic’s founders were previously at Open AI. Her farewell at the time paralleled today’s driving drama. With Anthropists they take a different approach – and spread a dark mood.
DrThe recent leadership chaos at Open AI has sparked discussion about security in AI. The firing of Sam Altman as CEO of ChatGPT’s maker, which has since been reversed, was linked to such questions, among others. Although Altman has spoken frequently about the risks of AI and the importance of security, he has also pushed for the rapid development and commercialization of Open AI products. This is believed to have gone too far for some board members and contributed to their decision to part ways with Altman.
Similar controversies have rocked the company before. About two years ago, a group of employees left Open AI, and security issues appear to have played a big role. The rebels created a separate artificial intelligence company and called it Anthropic. Like Open AI, it is based in San Francisco and run by brothers Dario and Daniela Amodei. As the New York Times wrote, Dario Amodei and his colleagues have already tried to pressure Open AI’s board to fire Altman. When that failed, he left Open AI.
