The 2023 Formula 1 season has just concluded with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last weekend, and Pirelli has already confirmed the formulas for the first three Grands Prix of 2024. Let’s take a quick look at the relations between Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
Pirelli has five different compounds: C1 to C5, from hard to soft. Three different vehicles are included each race weekend. For the 2023 season opener in Bahrain, C1, C2 and C3 were used. The Italian manufacturer made the same choice for Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Japan and Qatar. Pirelli has brought the C2, C3 and C4 to Saudi Arabia, Australia, Miami, Belgium, the United States and São Paulo. The three softest tires, C3, C4 and C5, were used in Azerbaijan, Monaco, Canada, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Singapore, Mexico City and Las Vegas. In 2023 there was also a C0 compound, but it was not listed at once and thus removed from trading before 2024.

Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia
During winter testing at the Bahrain International Circuit, any compound can be used, but for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which will be held a week later on March 2, Pirelli has chosen the C1, C2 and C3 compounds, which are the hardest compounds. For the Saudi Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Speedway, the tire manufacturer will bring C2, C3 and C4 tyres. Therefore, the two races in the Middle East will use the same vehicles that were used last season. After collecting all kinds of data, Pirelli selected different tires for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne in the hope of giving the teams more options in terms of strategies. Instead of C2, C3 and C4, C3, C4 and C5, which are the softer compounds, will be used.
