AntwerpAnyone strolling along the sidewalks of the Antwerp Scheldt feels like they are in fashionable French Saint-Tropez. Because Aviva is anchored in Norderterras. The impressive yacht – the ship has a real paddle court on board – is owned by British billionaire and Tottenham chairman Joe Louis (85).
No cruise ship packed with tourists this time. But a 98-meter yacht has been moored on the banks of the Scheldt River in Antwerp city center since Friday. The Aviva Hotel is owned by British billionaire Joe Louis (85 years old), who owns, among other things, the English club Tottenham Hotspur. With an estimated fortune of €7 billion, Lewis is one of the richest people in the United Kingdom.
So Louis has a lot of money. So Aviva is luxurious. The ship, valued at €175 million, has a gym, a beach club and, yes, a real tennis court. There is accommodation on board for 35 crew members, plus 16 guests, including the owner.
'home office'
It is not known why Aviva visited Antwerp. It is also unknown whether Joe Louis “himself” was on the plane. But the chance is high. Lewis is known to use Aviva as his “home office”. The billionaire will also house his personal art collection on the yacht. This is no small matter, as Louis owns works by Picasso, Klimt, Matisse, Cézanne, and Degas, among others.
It is not known when the Aviva will leave Antwerp waters.
