In southwestern Australia, firefighters battle a bushfire near the city of Perth. Rescue services warned that human lives were at risk due to the “escalating density.” Residents are advised to leave their homes.
The fire broke out on Saturday and has since destroyed about 2,600 hectares. More than 240 firefighters are trying to fight the fire. However, it is now expanding in different directions.
A house has already been destroyed in the town of Bindon, about 70 kilometers northeast of Perth. High temperatures make firefighting difficult. A temperature of 40.7 degrees was measured in Perth today, AAP reported.
Authorities have previously warned that the Australian spring and summer could be the worst bushfire seasons since the “Black Summer” of 2019-2020. Then weeks of wildfires destroyed more than 12 million hectares of land.
