Morocco and Switzerland agreed, on Tuesday in Bern, to strengthen their cooperation in the field of migration.
They did so during the second meeting of the Permanent Mixed Migration Group (GPMM), led by Moroccan Governor Director of Immigration and Border Control Khaled Zerouali and Swiss Secretary of State for Migration Christine Schraner Burgener.
The Moroccan delegation presented the results of the National Immigration and Asylum Strategy, which contributed to regularizing the situation of immigrants and integrating them into Moroccan society.
The delegation also stressed the importance of achieving a balance between security and development in managing migration flows, which should serve the interests of both host countries and countries of origin.
The Swiss Minister of State praised the central role played by Morocco in managing migration flows, thanks to its geographical location. She expressed her support for the Moroccan policy related to the humane and effective management of migration flows, which also proved successful in the Rabat Process, which is an important dialogue platform.
The two sides also praised the positive role of the Moroccan community in Switzerland, and agreed to continue joint work in managing the immigration file.
