An Iranian attack on Iran could begin within hours, according to US officials. CBS News reported this based on information from White House officials.
The Iranian attack is said to have been in response to the Israeli attack two weeks ago on an Iranian government building in Damascus, Syria. Seven Iranian officers were killed. Iran vowed to retaliate immediately after that attack, but so far nothing has been officially announced about if and when a counter-reaction will occur.

American citizens in Israel are advised not to leave major cities. These areas will be better protected against any missile attack from outside areas. Earlier today, France began withdrawing its embassy staff from the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that he would respond forcefully to any Iranian attack. “Whoever oppresses us, we oppress him” If Iran chooses to attack Israel directly, this could include a complex missile and drone attack, similar to the Iranian attack on a Saudi oil facility in 2019, according to CBS News.

The United States supports Israel
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken contacted his Chinese, Turkish, Saudi and European counterparts earlier this week in an attempt to prevent an Iranian attack on Israel. Blinken stresses that “escalation is not in anyone’s interest” and that countries must use their influence to prevent Iran from escalating the situation. Blinken also called his Israeli counterpart Yoav Galant to say that the United States would support Israel.
