According to the Natuurmonumenten website, more than half of the 360 bee species in the Netherlands are threatened with extinction. That's why you can get free bags of local flower seeds from 5,000 addresses in the Netherlands as of Thursday 11 April 2024. Each bag is enough for 2 square meters of “food forest” for a hungry bee.

To highlight the bee, we celebrate National Agriculture Day on Monday, April 22, 2024. On that day there is additional attention to bees. The organization invites you to scatter bags of seeds on this day in the garden, in containers on your balcony, in the mirror of a tree, or in a nearby public park. Through this measure, the organization hopes to increase the “nectar density” in neighborhoods and streets. This way the environment becomes more attractive to the bee.
