Even if you don't have the latest Samsung phone, you'll soon be able to use the new Galaxy AI features. A number of Samsung Galaxy models from 2021 and 2022 will receive a major update next month with new AI functions.
This was said by a Samsung employee in a Korean forum, which was translated by 9to5Google. According to the employee, not only the Galaxy S22 and S21 smartphones, but also other devices from 2022 and 2021 will have access to Galaxy AI. Samsung One UI 6.1 update adds artificial intelligence features.
The employee's statement is in line with a statement issued by Samsung earlier this week. The company then announced that the new AI language pack is on its way to the Galaxy S23 and S24 series, among other devices, but also to “other” models. It seems that only high-end models will be provided with the new update.
The update will be rolled out in early May
The employee also says that older devices don't get all the Galaxy AI functionality. For example, the AI-powered “Instant Slow-Mo” technology will not be available for 2022 models because it is not powerful enough. The models in question are in any case the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
For the 2021 line, the Galaxy AI capabilities will be somewhat limited. Only the search circuit and the as-yet-unknown “Magic Rewrite” feature, which is likely a stripped-down version of the Galaxy S24's generative editing function, are available for devices from 2021. Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z will be equipped Flip 3 with these features. According to forum statements, the One UI 6.1 update is expected to be released in early May.
